OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

More than ever, we believe in the power and importance of a healthy and personally pleasing environment for living and working. That is what our twenty-seven years of experience has taught us. We create interiors that are personal, soulful and enduring; spaces that are adaptable to life’s changing needs.

Our design solutions, no matter the style, are based on the Principles of Design—Balance, Unity, Variety, Color, Movement, Pattern, and Proportion, as they reflect the goals of each client and their project. These spaces are inspired by the architecture of the space, art that appeals to your soul, and your lifestyle. Each project will be unique to each client.

OUR DESIGN PROCESS

Ours is a dynamic design process where trust and clear communication among everyone on the project team is foundational. With a robust exchange of ideas between us, the client, and a team of highly skilled collaborators that may include architects, contractors, artists and other craft makers, we bring the vision to life.

We value commitment, integrity and excellence in every working relationship. As a result, we have long-standing relationships with people throughout the design industry. We have long-standing relationships with many clients as well. These relationships are invaluable. We are proud of both.

M A R Y S H E A grew up on the coast of Southern California, and she was deeply influenced by the diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritages of the Pacific Rim and Southwest. The unique sunlight of Southern California accentuated color, line, texture, and form, and shaped her lifelong appreciation of design across all formats and techniques. Upon relocating to Chicago in 1999, Mary seized the opportunity to integrate the vibrant influences of her formative years by undertaking formal design education at Harrington Institute of Interior Design. Three years of intensive training equipped her for both residential and commercial projects, ultimately leading her to Wiley Designs, where she has collaborated with Beth Boyd since 2003. Mary deeply values the strong relationships she has cultivated with clients over the years. Her design sense and collaborative approach have earned their trust and respect, making her career in interior design truly fulfilling.

B E T H B O Y D renovated two older homes, and being drawn to a more formal education in interior design, she attended The Harrington School of Interior Design in Chicago. Armed with a complete skill set from various areas of design to project management, she founded Wiley Designs in 1998, a full-service interior design firm. From its early years, the firm’s work included residential and commercial clients. Boyd says, “The importance of our built environments and how we feel living, working and playing in them, is more important than ever. The passion to achieve high quality design outcomes for clients, in spaces where they feel good and healthy, motivates me every day.” Beth has been a member of American Society of Interior Design (ASID), since 2003. She is a graduate of The University of Michigan, Case Western Reserve University Law School and Harrington School of Interior Design.
